Giving a 1960s Home a Modern Edge

Just wanted to share a little snapshot from a job we recently wrapped up. This one was a classic – a lovely 1960s property that, like many homes built anytime from the post-war era right up to the early 2000s, needed a bit of Quantum Roofing love. You know, these older roofs have seen a fair few seasons, and while they're built solid, time (and weather!) can definitely take its toll.

The main issue here was the concrete tiled verge. Over the decades, these can really start to show their age, getting cracked, crumbling, and generally letting water sneak in where it shouldn't. It wasn't just looking tired; it was actually pretty damaged and no longer doing its job properly protecting the edge of the roof.

So, what did we do? We carefully stripped out all that old, failing concrete tiled verge. Once that was clear, it was all about giving the roof a fresh, solid foundation. We installed brand new felt and battens – essentially the unsung heroes that keep your tiles secure and provide that crucial layer of weather protection underneath. Then, to really future-proofthings and give it a clean, modern finish, we fitted sleek new UPVC verge units. These aren't just about looks; they're incredibly durable, low-maintenance, and designed to stand up to whatever the Devon weather throws at them for years to come.
